what does my creative process look like?
01
How I start a new piece.
I generally start my creative process thinking about the project for a little while, I let my mind wonder and I spend a lot of time on Pinterest or on Instagram looking at pictures, shapes and colors for inspirations.
Once the idea is slowly taking shape I create a mood board.
Mood boards are such a great tool, they help me to decide the color palette and give me more clarity on the vibes and feel of the project.
Next step is to clean and tide up my work space! Yes, this is absolutely necessary to put me in the right mindset, I recently set up a new work space in my house and I love it!
When you are an Artist it’s very important to create a space that it’s yours and that can inspire you.
02
How I work.
I sketch, sketch and sketch more!
When I’m happy with the initial draft I work on the illustration refinement, colors and textures. I’m fluent across various mediums, with a unique personal style that combines detailed pencil, ink, watercolor and digital painting.
Every project is different and so is my approach based on the brief, the complexity of the commission and the media required. If I’m working on a personal project I simply follow my inspiration in that moment.
I want to constantly improve; I always try to push myself in doing better for the next illustration. I look at my old work sometimes and I feel happy when I see that my technique is improving and evolving.
03
What to expect.
The customer service is paramount for the Studio, I generally include 2 revisions per illustration/project, but I don’t like walking away from an unhappy client.
I am always happy to assist and work around the customers needs to make sure they have the best possible experience with the Studio.
This is why an initial meeting with the client followed by a detailed brief is absolutely vital to make sure I tick all the boxes when creating.
I like to work on a project at the time (of course depending on my schedule!) as I prefer to give my full attention and focus to the client and the project.
